Former Chelsea player and manager Roberto Di Matteo claims he is a big fan of Timo Werner. Long watched, he knew Werner would be a guaranteed goal.
Werner will join Chelsea starting next season after being recruited from RB Leipzig worth 47.5 million. The Blues tie it to a five-year contract.
The 24-year-old striker appeared sharp for four seasons with Leipzig. Of 159 matches, Werner scored 95 goals and 40 assists.
Di Matteo claimed to have followed Werner’s development since the player was still in Stuttgart. He even tried to recruit him twice, so he knew very well how much talent the new Chelsea player had.
“When I was at Schalke, he was in Stuttgart and had just entered the football stage. During the second half of the season, before I left, I made plans with the team’s sporting director,” Di Matteo was quoted as saying. Metro.
