Work is currently underway to get the much anticipated “Fight Island” up and running for its premiere on July 11th at UFC 251.
Dana White released an image of the octagon that will be set up on Yas Island beach in Abu Dhabi, where Kamaru Usman will make the headlines by defending his welterweight belt against Gilbert Burns.
This is just a fight in 15 days for UFC, with four events taking place between July 11th and 25th.
However, the beach venue is expected to be used as a training area for fighters as the main cards take place in an indoor venue.
“Everything will happen on the island,” said White in early June.
“Nobody will leave the island. They will have their own private training rooms where people can train themselves.
“We really have an octagon [for training] outside in the sand. The infrastructure will be incredible. The people of Abu Dhabi are doing everything right. “
Given the evening temperatures of almost 40 degrees Celsius, it’s a good thing to host the event inside.
UFC has had no fan events in Florida since May 9, and takes security seriously. According to mmajunkie.com, fighters and their teams are tested four times, even before and after the flight to the Emirates.
You must also wear face masks and gloves when they are outside of your room, which are cleaned every 48 hours.
In the meantime, the common areas and gyms are also cleaned every two hours.
