And his old boss Erik ten Hag said to Lamps: “Sometimes he is a coach ‘s nightmare, but you have to give him room.
“Hakim is ‘what you see is what you get’. You see what his feelings do to him today.
“It is an emotional day for Hakim, but I hope he looks back on it well.
“He appears as a big man at Chelsea, a top club in Europe. This is the example for the younger players here.
“Be the best here first, win titles and then take the step.
“He is an idiosyncratic character. But that also makes him brilliant.
“He sees things that others don’t see.”
Ziyech helped Ajax to the semi-finals of the Champions League last season and the final of the Europe League the year before.
The Moroccan will join Lampard’s blues squad next month after completing his transfer in January but will be allowed to stay with Ajax for the rest of the season.
He cannot play Premier League games this season.
Ziyech told the Ajax FC website after his last training session: “It feels strange, but the realization is now that it really is the last time.
“I always felt at home here. The championship, the cup win, but also the little things and the humor on the training field.
“I will miss everything. And the boys, they are no longer really teammates, but friends.”
The African scored 46 goals for the Dutch giants in 148 games.
