Chelsea Transfer News: Roman Abramovich Could Resist Frank Lampard on a Plan | Football | Sport

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard could be resisted by Roman Abramovich and the Stamford Bridge hierarchy if he tries to get rid of Kepa Arrizabalaga this summer, reportedly. The Blues have already started positively at the transfer window with Timo Werner ready to join Hakim Ziyech to sign on the dotted line. However, Lampard’s attempts to sign a new goalkeeper appear to be thwarted.

Chelsea signed Kepa from Athletic Bilbao in the summer of 2018.

They paid £ 72 million to land the Spanish national team with the club convinced that it would be the ideal replacement for Thibaut Courtois, who joined Real Madrid.

However, Kepa fought for consistency during his time in West London – and has been repeatedly abandoned by Lampard this season.

According to the Times, however, the Chelsea manager is likely to encounter resistance from Abramovich and the club’s hierarchy if he tries to unload Kepa.

The Blues was put in a position to land Borussia Dortmund’s Roman Burki when the transfer window reopens at the end of the campaign.

But Lampard may have to stick to Kepa and try to get the best of the most expensive signature in the club’s history.

Rob Green played alongside the Chelsea star last season with the couple who helped the club win the Europa League.

And he compared Kepa to David De Gea.

De Gea initially fought for Manchester United when he moved to the Premier League from the giants of La Liga Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2011.

But, since then, he has established himself as one of the best shooters in world football.

“He is one of those in whom he would always have had a slight drop in form because he played so many games (54) last season.

“But he had that little spell off the team this season and then he returned to the FA and got the man from the match against Liverpool, which could have done him a favor, only mentally.

“I think that because of the price, the expectation has been much greater.

“Everyone did the opera [Dean] Henderson at Sheffield United, Kepa isn’t much older than he is [23].

“But since it has this huge price on its shoulders, you’re thinking it’s the finished item. I was not the finished article at the age of 25 as a goalkeeper and I don’t even believe Kepa. “
