Canterbury bulldog star Will Hopoate has an ankle injury for 6-8 weeks

The Canterbury Bulldogs suffered a heavy blow after full-back Will Hopoate was ruled out for an ankle injury for 6-8 weeks.

The club’s 34-6 loss to the West Tigers was affected by an ankle injury to the star, who was arguably the best player in a campaign that didn’t reach great heights.

Hopoate’s ankle was trapped below in the fourth minute after contact by West Tiger striker Luke Garner.

Canterbury’s injury list is not as long as that of rivals in the NRL, but Hopoate’s loss will have a major impact on the team’s chances over the season.

The Bulldogs are already missing Marcelo Montoya, Isaiah Tass, Chris Smith and Joe Stimson.
