Rangers boss Steven Gerrard admits that he doesn’t know if he can hold on to striker Alfredo Morelos.

Ibrox’s gaffer desperately wants the Colombian to stay in Glasgow and wants him to lead the line for Gers as they try to stop Celtic’s offer for 10 in a row.

But Gerrard says he could be powerless if he tries to keep Morelos in the club if a suitable offer comes in.

Morelos, whose rangers are valued at around £ 20m, has previously sparked interest from clubs in England, Spain and Qatar – but so far they have not received a specific offer for the 24-year-old.

This week, the French Rennes team also saw a £ 15m change for the front man.

Gerrard prays that his prize assets are still there to cite a title fee:

Alfredo is a fantastic soccer player.

He scores goals in large quantities and I am really looking forward to getting fit, fast and ready to play.

But I assume you want me to say if he’ll be here next year. That is the million dollar question.

I want to have all my best players here, I’ve said that many times.

For us to be successful, our best players have to be fit, available and on the pitch.

But you and I know that every player has a price. Do we get bids for our best players? It is entirely possible.

It’s something I can’t control, so we just have to do it in the future.
