Russian skier Alexander Bolshunov spoke about congratulations after the conquest of the Big Crystal Globe.
– The first was congratulated by my coach Yuri Viktorovich Borodavko. We had training at that moment, he said that “for the Norwegians, the starts are over, you win the Cup ahead of schedule.” We could say that there were no first emotions – I wanted to bring this matter to the end and stand together on the podium with my rivals, to stand above the same Klebo and Rete.
I did not expect a result from anyone, I prepared myself and hoped for myself. Glad I did it. Then you need to train, at some points – more. Therefore, I’m not going to expect from anyone. The first of the rivals to write and congratulate Rethe. And more – no. There was no ceremony, nothing, therefore, it seems to me, and there were no such congratulations from the rivals, ”said the athlete.
Recall that because of the coronavirus, the final stages of the World Cup in North America were canceled, the award ceremony did not take place.
The Russian received a trophy on June 26 at a ceremony in Moscow.
Bolshunov became the first Russian who managed to conquer the Big Crystal Globe. Previously, only Soviet athletes Alexander Zavyalov (seasons-1980 / 81,1982 / 83) and Vladimir Smirnov (1990/91) managed to do this.
