Barcelona think they have a Neymar transfer tactic to convince PSG to sell Football | Sport

Barcelona think they can sign Neymar from PSG using an exchange agreement this summer, reports say. In 2017 the Samba star left the Camp Nou for Parc des Princes controversially. But he plans to return to Catalonia when he reopens the transfer window, three years after his world record of £ 200 million in France.

Barcelona was furious when Neymar left for PSG three years ago.

But now they are willing to bring the Brazilian national team back on board, with the club failing to shine both under Ernesto Valverde and Quique Setien.

Barcelona wanted to re-propose Neymar from PSG last summer, but eventually lost ground, with the board instead having Antoine Griezmann landed by the Liga rival Atletico Madrid.

However, the Catalan newspaper Sport says they are still eager to bring the Brazilian back to Camp Nou when the transfer window reopens this summer.

And presumably they believe they can convince PSG to sell by offering swap contracts.

Last summer a myriad of names were tipped to move from Barcelona to the Parc des Princes, with Nelson Semedo, Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele all subject to much speculation.

But even though PSG rejected the trio that time, it appears that Barcelona may now be ready to offer them again as they try to bring Neymar back.

Semedo has been linked with Manchester City, but the Portuguese international may still end up taking on a new challenge in Ligue 1.

Coutinho will not be given a second chance to test himself in Barcelona and PSG could be the next possible destination for the former Liverpool star.

And Dembele could also be tempted to return to France after struggling for form and fitness since arriving from Borussia Dortmund as a replacement for Neymar three years ago.

In the meantime, Neymar recently stressed his desire to win the Champions League with PSG this season.

The Ligue 1 giants made it to the quarter-finals of the tournament shortly before the coronavirus crisis, beating Borussia Dortmund with an aggregate 3-2 win.

PSG has never won the Champions League in all its history – and that’s something Neymar is determined to change before the end of the season.

“This period was atypical, but the main goal was to maintain security, with constant body and mind,” he said on his official website.

“I am ready and excited to return, thinking a lot about the Champions League, obviously.

“We have a strong group, conquered a historical qualification, with the same intensity and dedication, but I lack the warmth of the game.

“I can’t wait to enter the field and, if it is God’s will, to make history”.

Neymar had already won the Champions League with Barcelona in 2015, when Luis Enrique was manager.

He scored in the final 3-1 victory against Juventus, with Luis Suarez and Ivan Rakitic also on target.

But if it can push the PSG to the prize they crave the most it is something that only time will be able to say.
