AZ started a procedure with the European football federation last month to take over Ajax’s Champions League place. This entitles you to a place in the playoffs and probably even in the group phase.
The Alkmaarders had the same number of points (56) in the Premier League as the team from Amsterdam, but were second on the basis of a less goal difference. AZ did win twice against Ajax, but in the Netherlands the difference in goal difference is initially looked at.
The distribution of European tickets must be notified to UEFA by 3 August at the latest.
