Arsenal are in the cup semi-final after a late goal

Arsenal have struggled to reach the semi-finals in the English FA Cup. The Londoners won 2-1 (1-0) at Sheffield United late on Sunday. In front of empty spectator stands in the Bramall Lane stadium, Pepe (25th minute / penalty) and Dani Ceballos (91st) scored the goals for Arsenal. David McGoldrick (87.) had equalized for Sheffield in the closing stages, which did not last long.

At the beginning of the duel between the Premier League table night and the table ninth Arsenal, a goal for Sheffield had been denied by the video assistant. The alleged lead goal for the hosts by John Lundstram (8th minute) did not count due to a previous offside position. Another Sheffield goal in the 58th minute was also not given after VAR decision because of offside.

The “Gunners”, who are record winners in the FA Cup with 13 titles, were unlucky. Defender David Luiz suffered a knee injury and had to be replaced shortly after the half-time break.

Manchester United had already reached the semi-finals 2-1 after extra time on Saturday. The two remaining games will take place on Sunday: Newcastle United with ÖFB team player Valentino Lazaro will receive defending champions Manchester City. Third-placed Leicester City from ex-ÖFB captain Christian Fuchs meets Chelsea.
