Two-star All-Star Andre Drummond says he plans to take his player option which will keep him in Cleveland for another year.
Drummond, who was traded with the Cavaliers by the Detroit Pistons in February, has an option of $ 28.75 million for the 2020-21 season.
He said in Tuesday’s episode of the ESPN podcast Le Batard & Friends – STUpodity that “surely” will be in Cleveland next season.
“Yes, it will be difficult to give up, so you can count on me to still be in Cleveland,” Drummond said when he insisted if he was going to exercise his option.
“I will definitely be in Cleveland.”
The Knights swapped guard Brandon Knight, striker John Henson and the least chosen of the second round of 2023 in Cleveland and Golden State to acquire Drummond.
Cavs general manager Koby Altman said in February that Drummond’s collection was well worth the bet, although he may become a free agent this summer.
“For us, I think in terms of age and what it brings to our team, we consider it absolutely a potential long-term game,” said Altman. “Obviously he has an option for the player who, if he takes, we think we are in good shape in terms of space on the hat. There is no better money spent than Andre Drummond if he takes the option for his player.”
