Asked to evaluate what happened in the ring, the experienced coach congratulates Mairi with the victory in a conversation with Sportacentrs.com, but does not hide: in her opinion, it was a fight, not boxing. Klein emphasizes that he will not comment on the judge’s decisions, as this is not his competence, however, in assessing the performance of boxing, after the fight with Brandon Delorje in Moscow, no mistakes have been corrected.
Analyzing Deer’s last fight, the former coach lists several things that have prevented Mairi from showing better boxing. “Mairis jumps on top, goes on top of his head. He beats the jazz, but it has no sequel. Mairis works well with the jazz, but you carry the right hand. But the reason for this is already known to many – the right hand was injured. “I won the fight with Jebie. I don’t want to go too deep, because Maira ‘s mistakes need to be corrected by his coaches,” says Klein in a conversation with Sportacentrs.com.
None of the boxers has tried to play the other, showing the IQ of boxing. According to the coach, it is possible that both did not understand the weaknesses of the other.
After the fight, the opinions that Mairis had lost the zeal of the fight were no longer in the eyes of the fire. What happened to Bried, Klein does not comment, because the two have not been in contact since July. However, the experienced coach emphasizes that a lot of factors can be influenced by various factors in the last week before the fight – family matters or just problems with bowel movements. “I know it was definitely not easy for Mairim in America,” says Klein.

The coach admits that he is happy about Maira’s victory, because he loves boxing and sincerely wants this sport to continue in Latvia. However, the long-term cooperation between the two is currently broken, and Sandis Kleins and Mairi Briedis are no longer working.

“He’s settled with me, he’s always been correct in everything. But the attitude he had in 2011 when we started working when he was a regular guy… And the way he stayed after the fight against Hook. I didn’t like it,” he says. Kleins.
After a fight with Hook, the boxer has not been in contact with his coach for about a month, although Klein does not think he has done anything wrong to him. In the interview, the coach remembers the episodes when Briedis did not come to greet him in the gym, how he sat in the car at the restaurant and asked for food to be taken out, because he did not want to go inside and meet Klein, who was sitting there with friends.
“I don’t know what happened to him and why he became one. It’s hard to work with such a guy. Especially if you have to keep motivating the athlete. I’m tired of it all. Before the fight against Hook, Mairis was a completely different person. “We were a real team, everything was really cool. With Hooke, he boxed well, because Hook is really a terribly” dirty “boxer. Then everything changed,” says Klein.
