The race for the driver's title in Formula 1 is decided, but the winner of the constructors' championship is not yet determined. On the first day of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix Mercedes leaves no doubt that this title deserves the Silver Arrows as well.
Just two weeks after his fifth World Cup crown, Lewis Hamilton missed the best time for the Brazilian Grand Prix in his first Formula 1 race. The Briton missed just 0.003 seconds on his Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas at the end of the first practice day on the Autódromo José Carlos Pace. The Silver Arrow duo left no doubt that in the penultimate race of the season, the winner of the Constructors World Cup will make perfect. Sebastian Vettel and his Ferrari stable rival Kimi Raikkonen have in 86 remaining points alone on Sunday in Interlagos (from 18.10 clock at RTL and in the live ticker at n-tv.de) make up at least 13 points on Hamilton and Bottas, otherwise the team title will go to England for the fifth time in a row. Vettel closed on day one, however, only in third, Räikkönen was sixth. More about Max Verstappen was forced to watch after his best time in the first practice session. His Red Bull had to be repaired because of an oil leak, only after 45 minutes was the 21-year-old on the track at São Paulo. For Verstappen it was enough to position five. A black day caught Nico Hulkenberg. After almost ten minutes in the second round crashed the Emmericher, who had brought in 2010 his only career pole in Interlagos, with his Renault in the guardrail. The right front was demolished, the car had to be recovered with a crane. For Hülkenberg, the working day on the tarmac ended prematurely.
