Frank Lampard makes John Terry the "top boss", but plans to belittle the hopes of his friend today.
Derby manager Lampard is getting ready to greet former Chelsea team-mate Terry in Pride Park today.
The pair will be in opposing dug-outs after Terry returns to Villa to assist new boss Dean Smith.
Terry is learning ex-Walsall and Brentford boss Smith to one day become his own man.
Lampard said, "It's the beginning of John's next career, and I'm sure it will be a success.
"He has all the qualities to be a top coach and one day a top manager. I think he will bring a lot to Aston Villa. "
Derby are in good shape after six games in the championship before visiting Villa, which is in the lower half.
Lampard added, "Aston Villa has a variety of threats, both individually and collectively. Therefore, we have to be aware of what lies ahead.
"They (Villa) want to play well and attack the football. Once he (Smith) has conveyed his ideas, I think they will be challenging.
"But if we prepare properly, we can win a lot of games, as we have shown. We've been able to be more consistent lately. "
