Adam Armstrong’s deflected stoppage-time goal resulted in Blackburn defeating Millwall to claim his fourth win in five championship games.

Harvey Elliott curled up superbly in his first goal at Ewood Park to give Rovers the lead after a good build-up game put the Liverpool teen on loan into the lead.

The lead lasted less than 10 minutes, however, as Scott Malone shot a deserved equalizer into the top corner after being set up by Jed Wallace’s forward drive.

With the game looking like it was going to end all along the line, Armstrong scored his 14th goal of the season when Stewart Downing’s shot got in his way and he shot over the foot of a defender.

Blackburn remains in ninth place in the championship, two points behind play-offs, while Millwall falls back to 14th after failing to win in nine games for the eighth time.

The impressive Elliott forced an excellent low save from Millwall keeper Bartosz Bialkowski after a blocked shot from Armstrong in the fourth minute, while Shaun Williams shot over the Blackburn crossbar eight minutes later for the guests.

After equalizing at halftime, both teams could have scored shortly after the break when Armstrong overtook and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson forced a good save from Thomas Kaminski in Blackburn’s goal.

Kaminski also saved well from Malone’s header after a Millwall corner 20 minutes from time. After Armstrong put Blackburn back in the lead, the Lions felt they should have had a handball penalty that could have allowed them to save a point.
