Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow will have left knee surgery this week.

This is what head coach Zac Taylor said on Monday during his daily press briefing.

The first-ever pick in the last NFL Draft saw its season end on November 22. In the third quarter of a clash with the Washington football team, Burrow was struck by defensive lineman Jonathan Allen and was unable to get up on his own.

The day after that game, the Bengals reported that Burrow was suffering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament, a ruptured medial collateral ligament and several other structural issues in his left knee.

On Monday, the Bengals coach did not give details about the operation, but he believes his quarterback will be ready to return to the game for the start of the 2021 season.

In his first season in the NFL, the Louisiana State University product had 65.3% of his passes for 2,688 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also committed five interceptions.
