Ramie Al-Masri fights against the Aiba demons

WITHRamie Al-Masri came out of cover at the latest possible time. One day later, his letter of application would not have been accepted. As it is, there are now seven men of different reputations who have one thing in common: They want to be elected President of the International Boxing Federation (Aiba). An Olympic professional association of dubious reputation, rumored $ 20 million in debts, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) urged to purge itself – otherwise you lose your status in the circle of the Olympic family. One can only speculate about the motives why seven candidates are standing for election on December 12th.

Al-Masri, at least, is free from contaminated sites, because in the past, unlike five of the other applicants, he was not part of Aiba’s extended management circle. A blank slate, an outsider, a 49-year-old IT entrepreneur from Kaiserslautern with a doctorate, whose verdict on the majority of the candidates is harsh: “You are connected to the clans within Aiba, you have supported and tolerated the machinations.” His mantra Al-Masri could also speak in Arabic, English, French, Russian and “a little Spanish” in controversial debates.
