Honduran Badminton Federation hosts second international training course

More than 15 teacher candidates and four tutors have gathered at the Villa Olímpica in Tegucigalpa for the second international badminton training course organized by the Honduran National Badminton Federation. The program, which runs from October 2 to October 4, 2026, aims to equip educators with the methodologies needed to introduce the sport in schools and foster competitive pathways.

Colombian instructor Óscar Alejandro Vera Suárez leads the multi-day seminar at Gymnasium 2 of the sports complex. Vera Suárez holds a Shuttle Time Trainer certification from the Badminton World Federation, alongside Level 1 and Level 2 coaching credentials and a Para Badminton Level 1 certification. His sessions combine foundational instruction with inclusive teaching frameworks designed for youth and athletes with disabilities.

Training Curriculum at the Villa Olímpica Gymnasium

The daily schedule addresses both technical fundamentals and pedagogical strategies for school environments. Opening sessions cover basic grip mechanics, swing execution, launching techniques, and overhead stroke production. Subsequent modules focus on net play, spatial coordination, balance, and physical stability.

Organizers have structured the timeline to serve multiple development goals simultaneously. The itinerary includes specialized clinics featuring junior athletes and members of the national selection, alongside evaluations for prospective Shuttle Time national tutors. Dedicated segments also explore inclusive sports frameworks, incorporating principles from Special Badminton, Air Badminton, and Para Badminton formats.

Institutional Backing and Next Steps

The initiative draws support from several sporting bodies, including the Badminton World Federation, the Badminton Pan Am Confederation, the Honduran Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports (CONDEPOR), the National Confederation of Honduran Sports (CONDEPAH), and the Honduran Olympic Committee (COH).

Following the conclusion of the on-court sessions on Sunday, October 4, the program concludes on Monday, October 5, 2026, with scheduled meetings between federation representatives, international instructors, and officials from CONDEPAH to discuss the continued expansion of the sport across educational institutions.
