2026 Bingtuán Men’s Basketball Super League Opens in 12th Division
The 2026 “Tianshan Jiuding Cup” Bingtuán Men’s Basketball Super League officially tipped off on September 28 at the Wuyi New Area Cultural and Sports Center. This year’s tournament features 20 representative teams from various divisions, municipal departments, universities, and enterprises, marking a significant expansion in the scale and professional reach of the regional competition.
Jointly hosted by the Bingtuán Culture, Sports, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau and the 12th Division, the tournament—commonly referred to by fans as the “BingBA”—serves as a primary initiative to promote mass fitness and regional athletic development. Organizers have positioned the event as a vehicle for cultural and economic integration, with this edition seeing an increased number of professional industry teams participating compared to previous years.
Opening Night Results and Competition Format
The host team, the 12th Division, secured a 94:81 victory over the 8th Division Shihezi City team in the tournament’s opening matchup. The game set the tone for a high-intensity schedule that will run through October 5, culminating in the championship final.
To ensure high standards of officiating, the league has employed national-level referees for all matches, with professional officials from the CBA brought in to oversee critical contests. The tournament utilizes the Wuyi New Area Cultural and Sports Center as the main venue, with the Wuyi Farm Lubing Fitness Center and the Toutunhe Farm Employee Cultural Activity Center serving as two sub-venues. All matches are free to the public, with spectators required to book tickets in advance through the Maoyan platform.
Integration of Sports and Local Economy
Beyond the basketball court, organizers have integrated the tournament into a broader regional festival titled “Sports + Culture + Tourism + Consumption.” The Wuyi New Area venue is hosting fan parties, local product markets, and intangible cultural heritage exhibitions. Simultaneously, the Changzhou Street Xintianrun Food Street is hosting a street basketball tournament, while the Lubing Fitness Center provides holiday arts and cultural events.
Zhang Jun, director of the 12th Division Culture, Sports, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau, stated that the event is designed to translate the popularity of the basketball league into measurable benefits for local tourism and consumer markets. The goal is to use the “BingBA” brand to encourage public engagement with the 12th Division and the broader Bingtuán region.
Growth of the “BingBA” Brand
The “BingBA” has established itself as a significant sports property within the region. According to tournament organizers, the inaugural 2025 league saw total online engagement exceed 1.84亿, with a combined online and offline audience reach of over 3777万. This year, the league is continuing its full-media coverage strategy, utilizing 4K high-definition technology to broadcast the games across multiple platforms.
The tournament is scheduled to conclude on October 5, when the final ranking will be determined following the championship game. The league continues its schedule at the designated venues through the holiday period, with local organizers maintaining a focus on high-level competition and regional social cohesion.
