“They’re so small. I loved receiving even back then. I think that’s where everything started for me,” Takahashi said on the broadcast while reviewing a childhood image of himself executing a defensive reception rather than an attacking spike. He added that his career has been driven by an absolute refusal to lose to anyone.
Takahashi’s appearance followed a strong international stretch for the outside hitter. Earlier in the month, he helped guide the Japan men’s national team to victory at the Asian Championship, securing qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games and earning tournament Most Valuable Player honors.
