Giulio Locchi captured the gold medal in the mixed team event at the World Field Archery Championships in Yankton, South Dakota, teaming up with Linda Grezzani to defeat the United States pair 69–62. Held during the week of the Giochi de le Porte festivities in his hometown of Gualdo Tadino, the victory marked Italy’s first gold medal of the global tournament.

The gold medal match showcased sharp shooting under pressure as Locchi and Grezzani combined to outscore their American opponents 69–62. For Locchi, an archer representing the Compagnia Arcieri Rocca Flea, the result highlights an impressive upward trajectory on the international stage following earlier success in continental competition.
Continuing Medidale Campaigns and Individual Brackets
Locchi’s schedule at the Yankton world championships extends well beyond the mixed team victory. The young Italian athlete remains active in the Junior men’s team competition, where squad members prepared to face Great Britain for a berth in the final. In the individual tournament bracket, Locchi opened competition with a 55–48 victory over the United States competitor Urgelles, before dropping a 52–43 decision to Sweden’s Rohlin. That setback placed Locchi into a bronze medal match against another local archer, Olmstead.
Building on a Stellar 2026 Campaign
The world championship performance crowns an extraordinary competitive year for the Gualdo Tadino native. Back in February, Locchi traveled to Bulgaria to secure both the Junior European title and the mixed team European crown alongside Eleonora Lai. Locchi entered the international showcase following a dominant domestic run in 2026, securing nine victories out of ten Italian events and holding the 50-meter field archery points record established in Rovereto in June 2025. That domestic dominance paved the way for his selection by the Italian national federation to contest the Under-21 Barebow division in South Dakota.
