Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen enters Week 3 with a flawless record and a series of historical NFL milestones within reach as his team prepares to host the Los Angeles Chargers. Through the first two games of the season, the 30-year-old signal-caller has accounted for nine total touchdowns—five passing and four rushing—without committing a single turnover.

That efficient start places Allen in elite historical territory. According to an evaluation by NBC Sports, he joins Patrick Mahomes and Peyton Manning as just three players in NFL history to open a season with such a start. Both Mahomes in 2018 and Manning in 2013 went on to win the MVP award in those respective seasons.

Chasing Three-Game Touchdown Marks

If Allen produces at least two more touchdowns and avoids a turnover against the Chargers on Sunday, he will join Mahomes as the only players in league history to record at least 11 total touchdowns without a turnover through three games. Mahomes set the benchmark in 2018 with 13 touchdowns and zero turnovers over his first three contests.

Allen is also tracking another streak of precision. Over his last two games, he has recorded at least four touchdowns in each outing without recording an interception. Securing a third game meeting that criteria would tie the longest streak of its kind in NFL history. That mark is shared by Matthew Stafford, Lamar Jackson, Drew Brees, Russell Wilson, and Allen himself, who achieved the feat during the 2024 season.

History on the Ground

Beyond his passing efficiency, Allen carries significant rushing momentum into Sunday’s matchup. Having notched two rushing touchdowns in each of his first two games, another multi-score performance on the ground would make him just the fourth player in NFL history to accomplish the feat in the first three games of the season. The only players to achieve that milestone previously are Priest Holmes in 2003, Stephen Davis in 1999, and Jim Brown in 1958.
