Dominance in Toledo: Martí and Mompó Lead the Way
Julio Martí and Mª José Mompó emerged as the standout competitors for the Xàtiva contingent, capturing two gold medals each during the national event. The pairing secured victory in the B2 mixed doubles category, a result that propelled them to the number one spot in the national ranking for the division, as reported by local media.
Mompó added a second gold medal to her tally by teaming up with Inmaculada Aguilar in the B2 women’s doubles. The duo claimed the title without dropping a single set throughout the competition.
Men’s Doubles Success and Group Stage Battles
In the C1 men’s doubles draw, Julio Martí partnered with Gary Clark to navigate a demanding bracket. The pair advanced to the final following a hard-fought semifinal that extended into a decisive third set. In the championship match, Martí and Clark secured the gold by defeating their opponents with set scores of 21-18 and 21-16.
The Xàtiva roster also featured Daniel Meseguer competing in the B1 category across both singles and doubles events. Although he delivered a competitive effort, Meseguer was unable to advance past the group stage.
Upcoming Regional Action in Xàtiva and Aragon
The local sports calendar remains active as Xàtiva prepares to host the opening provincial benjamín fixture of the Jocs Esportius de la Comunitat Valenciana. The tournament is scheduled to take place at the Pabellón Municipal Francisco Ballester, drawing young competitors from across the province alongside representatives from the Club Bádminton Xàtiva.
Concurrently, Xàtiva player Irene Orquín is set to travel to Aragon to compete in the Top TTR tournament across the U-11, U-13, U-15, and U-17 classifications. Orquín is slated to contest both the women’s singles draw and the women’s doubles event alongside partner Ariadna Fabra.
