The Atlantic Stage: Psicobloc Master Series
The festival’s signature visual spectacle unfolds above the Atlantic Ocean as the Psicobloc Master Series brings sixteen elite specialists to compete without ropes, harnesses, or safety nets on a 16-meter overhanging wall, as reported by El Periódico. The setup places parallel climbing routes directly over the water, which serves as a natural cushion in the event of a fall. Training sessions and preliminary duels run Saturday from 11:00 to 13:00 local time, with night finals scheduled from 21:50 to 23:30.
Chris Sharma serves as the official ambassador for the competition. Confirmed competitors include Julia Chanourdie, Mikel Linacisoro, Svana Bjarnason, Francis Guillén, Katja Debevec, Mattea Pötzi, Isaac Estévez, Ana Belén Argudo, Eneko Carretero, and Jérôme González, according to event details.
Speed Climbing Against the Clock
Speed climbers will face off on a standardized 15-meter wall during the international and Galician speed climbing open, where two athletes race simultaneously on parallel tracks to reach the top. Free practice sessions take place Friday from 19:00 to 21:00, while the men’s and women’s absolute finals run Saturday between 19:00 and 20:30 local time.
National competitors include María Laborda, who captured the Spanish championship in 2021 and finished sixth at the European event in Barcelona this summer, alongside Alejandro Rivas and rising local talent Nora García Maestu. Youth categories take over the structure Sunday from 10:00 to 13:00.
Boulder Challenges and Social Inclusion
The A Coruña Boulder Open challenges athletes with short, highly technical routes completed without ropes across U15, U17, and absolute divisions, alongside para-climbing categories, as outlined by El Periódico. Local standout Javi Gento leads the Galician boulder contingent.
The organizing body, Agrupación de Montañeros Independientes (AMI), integrates community outreach alongside the athletic brackets. Their Camino, Escala y Orientación project brings approximately 500 participants into mountain activities annually, including individuals with disabilities and at-risk groups. On Sunday, September 20, AMI hosts the Boulder Experience from 11:30 to 14:00, offering open sessions for children and youths aged 6 to 17.
Spanish Parkour Championships
Organized in collaboration with the Real Federación Española de Gimnasia, the Spanish Parkour Championship utilizes a course built from walls, bars, and elevation changes. The Speed format challenges traceurs to finish the course in the fastest time, while the Freestyle division evaluates athletes on difficulty, execution, creativity, safety, and fluid transitions across self-selected lines.
The national team roster features international medalists from the 2026 circuit, including Marta Gutiérrez—who earned bronze in Montpellier and silver in Istanbul—alongside Montpellier freestyle finalist Eduardo Oliva and World Cup speed semifinalist Héctor Martínez.
