Preseason Finale Setup at Lambeau Field
The Green Bay Packers will conclude the 2026 preseason schedule when they face the Arizona Cardinals on Friday night at Lambeau Field. The preseason finale will be the one and only exhibition game at Lambeau Field this season. If this were a regular-season game, Packers coach Matt LaFleur would be squaring off against his brother, Cardinals coach Mike LaFleur, for the first time as NFL head coaches. Because it’s the preseason, though, play-calling will likely be done by assistant coaches.
For Green Bay, the matchup also comes after the Packers and Cardinals held a joint practice in Green Bay on August 26, giving both teams additional competitive work before their preseason meeting. Arizona head coach Mike LaFleur spoke ahead of the session about the value of facing another team rather than simply continuing training-camp drills, while the Cardinals have used camp to evaluate several position battles under their new head coach. In this actual game, no starters or key backups are expected to play. Cardinals rookie quarterback Carson Beck is not expected to play either, as he is still recovering from a rib injury.
Roster Cuts and What Is at Stake
The Packers vs. Cardinals preseason finale is less about the final score and more about the decisions it can influence before the regular season. With roster cuts approaching, Friday’s game gives both coaching staffs one last extended look at players competing for jobs, particularly those who have not yet secured a place on the 53-man roster. The Arizona Cardinals close out their preseason schedule on Friday having gotten to play one extra game because of the Hall of Fame Game, bringing a 1-2 record into the contest following previous games that included a 33-30 loss to the Panthers on Thursday, Aug. 6, a 27-14 win over the Raiders on Thursday, Aug. 13, and a 34-13 loss to the Cowboys on Saturday, Aug. 22. The Green Bay Packers’ preseason schedule featured an opening 28-9 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday, Aug. 13, followed by a 33-13 win against the Denver Broncos on Friday, Aug. 21.

Unlike the first two weeks, Friday night’s preseason game will NOT be broadcast nationally and is only available live to local audiences — although NFL+ provides a way to live stream the game.
