Querétaro maintains its position at the top of the national archery medal standings following a competitive fourth day of the Campeonato Nacional de Tiro con Arco 2026. Events at the Estadio Fray Nano in Mexico City brought together elite youth competitors from across the country, featuring decisive finals in both compound and recurve disciplines across the Sub-18 and Sub-21 categories.
Fourth Day Finals at Estadio Fray Nano
Competition intensified on Saturday as athletes contested podium spots in the compound and recurve brackets. Delegations from Coahuila, Aguascalientes, the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), Ciudad de México, and the Estado de México also captured medals during the weekend’s events.
In the compound Sub-18 women’s division, Yaretzi Casandra Salas Ledezma representing Coahuila claimed the gold medal after defeating San Luis Potosí competitor Larissa Gimmler. Tlaxcala’s Vanessa Angélica Lozano Rojas rounded out the podium with the bronze. In the men’s bracket, Nicolás Martínez Flores of Aguascalientes captured the championship by defeating Jorge Alonso Aparicio Aguilera of the Estado de México with a score of 146-142, while Coahuila’s Antonio Epifania secured the bronze.
Compound and Recurve Highlights
Erika Gabriela Baeza Fonseca, competing for the UNAM, earned the gold medal in the women’s category by defeating Sinaloa’s Aileen Margarita Medina López 140-132. Nuevo León athlete Karla Estrada collected the bronze medal. In the men’s Sub-21 final, Coahuila teammates Víctor Bretado and Melchor Flores faced off for the title, with Bretado prevailing 144-138. Axel Pimentel Ruvalcaba of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) took third place.
Recurve events highlighted Querétaro’s depth in the youth divisions. In the Sub-18 women’s final, Ángeles Cerino defeated Tlaxcala’s Dafne Alexia Cuapio Mendoza 6-2 to take gold, while Ximena Sarahí Ortiz Lizárraga of Sinaloa earned bronze. In the men’s competition, Ulises Contreras of Querétaro secured a 6-2 victory over Chihuahua’s José Felipe Cerecedo Pérez, with Nuevo León’s Diego Alberto Martínez Moreno capturing the bronze.
Ciudad de México’s Isis Yaretzi Gutiérrez Muñoz earned a 7-1 win over Querétaro’s Sayuri Celeste Celis Soto in the recurve Sub-21 women’s final, leaving Celis Soto with the silver medal and Estado de México’s Anayetzi Escobedo González with the bronze. In the men’s recurve Sub-21 division, Leonardo Pacheco Nava of Querétaro won a closely contested final 6-5 against Neil Oliver Méndez of the Estado de México. Santiago López Flores completed a double-podium finish for Querétaro by taking the third-place bronze.
Tournament Schedule and Outlook
Organized with the backing of the Comisión Nacional de Cultura Física y Deporte (CONADE) and World Archery México, the national tournament concludes its schedule with team and individual finales. Sunday’s program at Estadio Fray Nano features compound mixed, women’s, and men’s team finals, alongside recurve men’s and mixed team matches, and the remaining individual brackets.
