According to the Associated Press, the Sky were officially eliminated from the playoff race following this defeat combined with a victory by Washington on Sunday night. Chicago had entered the contest having won three in a row before running into an efficient Indiana attack.

Sunday’s matchup marked the first meeting between the two franchises since an August 8 game where Indiana guard Sophie Cunningham was taken down by DiJonai Carrington on a hard foul during the first quarter of a 90-86 Fever win. In Sunday’s rematch, Cunningham played more than 11 minutes and scored three points, while Carrington logged 18 minutes and scored seven points for Chicago.

The game also featured an unusual interruption in the stands when former NBA center Enes Kanter Freedom attended the contest and was ejected in the third quarter following a confrontation with Chicago’s Natasha Cloud, as reported by the Associated Press.
