FK Jablonec Sign Cameroonian Winger Saidou Alioum from IFK Göteborg

Cameroonian Winger Saidou Alioum Arrives at Střelnici

FK Jablonec has strengthened its attacking options by signing 23-year-old Cameroonian winger Saidou Alioum from Swedish club IFK Göteborg on a multi-year contract, the Czech club announced. The deal brings a fast, creative wide player to the Střelnici stadium as the team prepares for its domestic campaign in the Chance liga.

From Maroua to Scandinavia and Cyprus

Alioum was born in Maroua, Cameroon, before signing with Swedish side Hammarby in 2022, according to club records. From Sweden, he moved on loan to Cypriot club Omonia, spending two seasons there and making his greatest impact in his second campaign by scoring nine goals in the top Cypriot division alongside two goals in the UEFA Conference League.

Göteborg Exit Precedes Czech Move

Following his stint in Cyprus, Alioum transferred from Hammarby to IFK Göteborg, where he added six more competitive goals to his record. Notably, his final goal for Göteborg came less than 24 hours before he finalized his transfer to Jablonec, though that strike could not prevent Göteborg from being eliminated in the Conference League qualifiers.

International Pedigree and Tactical Fit

On the international stage, Alioum earned two caps and scored one goal for the Cameroon national team during the FIFA Series tournament last season. FK Jablonec sporting director Zdeněk Koukal explained the rationale behind the acquisition of the winger.

"Sháněli jsme rychlé a zároveň kreativní křídlo, které má i dobrý dribling. To všechno by měl Saidou do naší hry nabídnout," said Koukal.

Conference League Cup-Tying Realities

Because Alioum already featured in this season's Conference League qualifying rounds for Göteborg, he is ineligible to play for Jablonec in their upcoming matches against Rangers. However, if Jablonec advances to the main phase of the Conference League, those restrictions will lift, clearing the new signing for European duty.
