Bjorn Meijer has completed a permanent transfer from Club Brugge to Italian side Sampdoria, signing a contract that runs until June 2030. According to reports from Voetbalprimeur, the 23-year-old left-back chose to pursue a fresh challenge in Serie B after slipping down the pecking order at the Belgian club.
The Dutch defender departs Belgium after a productive four-year spell that saw him make 145 appearances across all competitions for Blauw-Zwart, contributing eight goals and 17 assists. Once a locked-down starter in the squad, Meijer’s prospects shifted following a challenging run of injuries that pushed him out of favor under manager Ivan Leko, ultimately leading both clubs to reach an agreement on a permanent exit.
