Paralympic Stars Mentor Aspiring Talents
The Korea Paralympic Committee hosted a special development camp bringing together aspiring athletes and winter sports legends, including Sin Eui-hyun and Kim Yoon-ji, to foster the next generation of talent for the Paralympic Games.
According to reports from the Korea Paralympic Committee, the youth development camp provided a structured environment for participants with physical and visual impairments to explore competitive winter and summer sports. The program, designed to identify and nurture future elite competitors, featured hands-on training sessions and mentorship from established national team veterans who have competed on the world stage.
Masterclass from PyeongChang Medalists
For young athletes harboring dreams of standing on a Paralympic podium, the presence of established medalists served as both a practical masterclass and a motivational boost. Sin Eui-hyun shared his technical insights and training regimen with the participants. Alongside him, Kim Yoon-ji offered guidance drawn from her extensive international career competing across multiple disciplines.
Comprehensive Multi-Sport Curriculum
The curriculum of the development camp spanned a broad cross-section of parasports, giving participants the opportunity to test their abilities across various disciplines. According to organizers, the roster of featured activities included athletics, badminton, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair tennis, table tennis, swimming, cycling, rowing, archery, taekwondo, snowboarding, nordic skiing, and goalball. This multi-sport approach allows young athletes to discover which events best suit their functional classifications and athletic strengths.
Elite Coaching and Skill Evaluation
Skill-development modules formed the core of the daily schedule, with specialized coaches leading drills focused on agility, endurance, and sport-specific techniques. For many participants, the camp marked their first formal exposure to high-performance coaching and equipment tailored to elite competition. Coaches evaluated athletes’ coordination, reaction times, and spatial awareness to build a comprehensive talent pipeline for future national developmental squads.
Building Sustainable Depth in South Korea
The initiative reflects a broader effort within South Korean parasports to expand the grassroots base following success at recent international competitions. By engaging athletes at a younger age and providing access to professional coaching staffs, the Korea Paralympic Committee aims to build sustainable depth across both summer and winter disciplines ahead of upcoming Games cycles.
The training camp concluded with closing evaluations and individualized feedback sessions for all participants, offering a clear roadmap for continued club-level training and potential entry into regional competition structures.
