Tlaxcala, Mexico, has officially been confirmed as the host city for the 2026 Pan American Archery Championship, a biennial event that brings together top archers from across the Americas. The announcement, made by the Pan American Archery Confederation (PAC) in February 2024, marks a historic milestone for the region, as Tlaxcala becomes the first Mexican city to host the competition. The event is scheduled to take place from July 12–20, 2026, at the Tlaxcala Sports Complex, a multi-use facility designed to accommodate elite archery competitions.

The Pan American Archery Championship, organized by the PAC under the Pan American Sports Organization (PASO), serves as a qualifier for the Olympic Games and a platform for emerging talent. The 2026 edition will feature 300+ athletes from 25 countries, competing in recurve and compound categories. According to PAC officials, the tournament will follow a format similar to the 2023 event in Medellín, Colombia, with individual and team competitions, as well as a mixed team relay.

The Tlaxcala Sports Complex, which hosted the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games, is undergoing renovations to install a 12-lane outdoor archery range and a spectator-capacity pavilion. The city has also allocated $15 million for transportation improvements, including shuttle services to and from the venue.
“We’ve prioritized accessibility and sustainability in our planning,” said Tlaxcala Mayor José López. “The tournament will not only showcase archery but also highlight our cultural heritage through local exhibitions and culinary experiences.”

The event represents a major opportunity for Mexico to elevate its profile in international archery. The country’s national team, which secured a bronze medal at the 2023 Pan American Games, has been using Tlaxcala as a training hub. The 2026 championship will allow Mexican archers to compete on home soil, fostering grassroots interest and investment in the sport.
