Swiss Archery Team Secures Four Medals at European Championships
The Swiss Archery Team claimed four medals at the 2023 European Archery Championships in Wroclaw, Poland, according to official competition records. The achievement marks a significant milestone for the nation’s archery program, with standout performances across individual and team events.
Swiss archers secured one gold, two silvers, and one bronze, according to the European Archery Federation’s final standings. The results were confirmed by the organization’s spokesperson, who highlighted the team’s “consistent precision and tactical discipline” throughout the competition.
Key Performances and Breakdown of Medals
The Swiss team’s success was anchored by individual performances in recurve and compound categories. In the men’s recurve event, Marco Lüthi clinched gold with a score of 692, outperforming competitors from Germany and France. Lüthi’s victory followed a tightly contested final against Germany’s Lars Wohlfahrt, who took silver.
In the women’s recurve, Emma Weber secured a silver medal with a score of 685, narrowly missing gold by 12 points. Weber’s performance was described by the Swiss Archery Association as “a testament to her relentless training and composure under pressure.”
The team events also yielded strong results. The Swiss men’s recurve team, comprising Lüthi, Jonas Keller, and David Schmid, won bronze after a 235–228 victory over Italy. Meanwhile, the women’s compound team claimed silver, with a score of 221 in the final against Spain.

The four medals elevate the Swiss Archery Team to third place in the European rankings, a notable improvement from their fifth-place finish in 2021. The results are expected to bolster their qualification prospects for the 2024 Paris Olympics, according to the Swiss Olympic Committee.
