The Estadio Multipropósito Invencible Rosario officially opened on Saturday in Rosario, Argentina, serving as a cornerstone venue for the upcoming XIII Juegos Suramericanos Santa Fe 2026, according to the Government of Santa Fe.
Opening the New Venues for Santa Fe 2026
Governor Maximiliano Pullaro and Rosario Mayor Pablo Javkin cut the ribbon at the newly built multi-sport arena, situated within the municipal stadium grounds at the intersection of Ovidio Lagos and Dante Alighieri inside Independence Park. According to provincial officials, the venue immediately hosted its first competition following the opening ceremony, featuring the men’s volleyball triangular matches of the Copa Santa Fe.
Economic Impact and Infrastructure Investment
Speaking at the inauguration, Governor Pullaro tied the venue’s construction to broader economic efforts across the region during challenging fiscal conditions. According to the provincial administration, the broader infrastructure push for the 2026 South American Games required a significant investment, backed by a financing agreement from CAF (Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean) alongside provincial treasury funds.
“We channeled those resources into public works because we understood that investment brought development, but also jobs at a very difficult time for Argentina,” Pullaro said, noting that the projects generated direct employment for more than 3,000 workers.
Specifications and Event Schedule
Lisandro Enrico, the Minister of Public Works for Santa Fe, noted that the Invencible stadium was completed in record time and designed for flexibility beyond sports. According to the Ministry, the facility can host cultural, social, and gastronomic gatherings in addition to athletic events.
The arena features more than 2,400 permanent seats, with capacity expandable by another 400 through temporary seating. It also includes 16 broadcast booths and dedicated spaces for athletes, judges, and spectators. From September 12 to September 26, the venue will host competitions in judo, karate, and artistic roller skating.
Historical Perspective for Rosario
Mayor Javkin emphasized the significance of the project for local sports infrastructure, pointing out that the city had not seen a comparable wave of sports investment since the 1982 Cruz del Sur Games. The opening ceremony drew notable figures from regional sports history, including four-time Olympian and Pan American judo champion Gastón García, and local volleyball figure José Peralta.
