Torun, Poland – Mattia Furlani of Italy secured a silver medal in the men’s long jump at the World Indoor Athletics Championships on Saturday, falling just short of gold after a dramatic final jump by Portugal’s Pedro Baldé. Furlani, 21, leaped 8.39 meters, a performance that initially appeared to be enough for the top spot, but Baldé’s winning jump of 8.46 meters on his sixth and final attempt ultimately secured the victory.
