Anthony Elanga scored twice for Newcastle in the first half (15th, 28th minutes), but the English side were unable to contain Barcelona’s relentless attack.
Barcelona will face Atlético Madrid in the quarter-finals, a Spanish clash following Atlético’s 2-3 loss (0-1) at Tottenham Hotspur, but progression was never in doubt after their 5-2 first-leg victory. Arsenal had previously secured their spot on Tuesday with a win over Bayer Leverkusen.
