Curling Final: Great Britain vs Canada – Live Updates

The final of the Olympic curling tournament will pit Great Britain against Canada.

Great Britain will challenge Canada in the final of the 2026 Olympic men’s curling tournament after the semi-finals played Thursday evening in Cortina d’Ampezzo.

Great Britain outclassed Switzerland 8 to 5, which had nevertheless finished the preliminary phase with a faultless record of nine victories in as many matches. The British, already finalists in 2014 and 2022 but never yet crowned since the return of curling to the Olympic program in 1998, made the difference in the 10th and final round by scoring two points.

The final on Saturday

In the other semi-final, Canada, crowned in 2006, 2010 and 2014, had to wait until the extra-end (overtime) to overcome Norway 5 to 4. The two teams had already faced each other earlier in the day in the last meeting of the group stage, a match won by Norway (8-6).

The final will take place on Saturday, the bronze medal match on Friday. Title holders, Sweden finished in 9th and penultimate place with a disastrous record of two victories and seven defeats. The men’s tournament was marked by a controversy which put curling in a new light when a Swedish player accused a Canadian opponent of cheating, the latter responding by insulting him.
