Seahawks RB Depth: Post-Kenneth Walker III Outlook

Follow Super Bowl LX between the Seahawks and the Patriots, Sunday, from 4 p.m. with our pre-game show on all our platforms.

The Seattle Seahawks are making sure they have a little more depth behind No. 1 running back Kenneth Walker III heading into Sunday’s Super Bowl game against the New England Patriots.

Cam Akers and Velus Jones Jr. are added to the roster from the practice squad.

The Seahawks are banking on Walker III at running back and George Holani at second following Zach Charbonnet’s injury.

Akers was the team’s third-string running back in the NL Finals game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Akers was signed in November. He has mainly played on special teams since arriving in Seattle. Jones had 42 yards on 10 carries when he was sent into the scrimmage.

For their part, the Patriots added defensive end Leonard Taylor and running back Ernest Johnson to their roster from the practice squad.

In addition to replacing Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson as needed, Johnson can also play as a punt returner.
