Francis Abula Agombire is the third new addition to FC Verden 04 during the winter break. The midfielder from Ghana comes from SV Wilhelmshaven and is expected to give the top league football club more stability in the center.
Verden – Next entry for FC Verden 04: The top division football team signed Francis Abula Agombire on Thursday until the summer of 2027. After the two strikers Maurice Kirsch and Lucas Uwandu, the central midfielder is the third new acquisition during this winter break.
Bastian Reiners is really looking forward to the 26-year-old. “A pleasant and calm guy who certainly fits into the dressing room with his friendly nature.” The FC player-coach continued in an interview with the Kreiszeitung media group: “Francis made a really good impression in the sessions. His enormous physicality will help us and bring us a lot of joy.” Reiners cites tackling skills, running strength and footballing quality as important advantages of the “team player”.
Need for action after Röpe failure
Agombire can play both the six and the eight, the Allerstadt team was looking for this type of player due to the loss of Jalte Röpe. The top performer is suspected of having pubic bone inflammation – the timing of the comeback is uncertain. “Francis is certainly a valuable replacement with similar strength on the ball to Jalte,” says Nicolas Brunken, sporting director at Hubertushain.

The 26-year-old Abula Agombire played for league rivals SV Wilhelmshaven until the summer before retiring for six months. The Ghanaian moved from SpVgg Aurich to Jadebusen before the 2022/23 season.
According to the club, Verden’s third winter signing is considered a particularly strong player in duels and with intensive running. In addition to his defensive quality, he impresses with his high level of commitment, game intelligence and the ability to switch the game quickly. The former Ghanaian national team player has demonstrated all of this in all his positions.
