England Match Delays: Why Kick-Offs Are Changing

A strong signal in the fight against cardiorespiratory arrest. The 36 matches of the three divisions of the English Football League scheduled between this Thursday, February 5 and Monday, February 9 will all be launched one minute late.

Already two weeks ago, the EFL had announced the delay in the kick-off time of all the matches of this championship day. Objective: to draw attention to the importance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as part of the Every Minute Matters campaign.

February, heart month

Led jointly by the League, Sky Bet and the British Heart Foundation, This campaign aims to convince half a million supporters, by the end of February, to learn the gestures of CPR.

EFL chief executive Trevor Birch explained the rationale behind the delayed kick-off: « This one-minute delay is a simple but powerful reminder: rapid CPR can mean the difference between life and death. »
