The event which is announced on February 6, 7 and 8, 2026 at Caen Sports Palace (Calvados) looks very promising. This will be an opportunity to see top world badminton players perform, such as Alex Lannier, Anna Tatranova, the brothers Christo and Toma Junior Popov, Margot Lambert, Camille Pognante, Delphine Delrie and Thom Gicquel. The poster has already attracted thousands of spectators.
142 players competing
No less than 142 players from 45 different clubs, from 11 leagues, will be represented. It offers a new format with a 16-player qualifying table offering 4 places to directly join the 4 seeds in the quarter-finals.
More than 10,000 tickets were sold a few days before the event. Five sessions are on the program for the three days of competition. Friday February 6, the first two are devoted to qualifications, with the desire on the ticketing side to attract young audiences and school groups. Saturday 7, sessions 3 and 4 concern the quarter-finals and semi-finals. As for session 5, it will be the finals on Sunday.
“Measuring the evolution of bad French”
The five sessions on the menu represent a total of 20,000 places. So half has already been sold. For the bad federation, the challenge is to make these French championships the national badminton showcase. The competitors also underline the importance of this eventlike the stage local, Alex Lannier:
The level of a simple French man has never been higher. Competing at this level, with us, is a real advantage. We will be able to measure the evolution of bad French, and I think that it will be one of the most successful editions in history.
