Javi Leal and Jon Sanz They will unite their paths in an exceptional way in the next Premier Padel tournament in Riyadh, a decision forced by the injuries of their respective teammates, Pablo Cardona and Coki Nieto.
Cardona’s loss was already felt in … the Hexagon Cup, where the young man from Extremadura could not compete with the Rafa Nadal Academy Team. The player himself explained his situation through his social networks: “The desire to compete again is enormous, but it is not the time yet.” Cardona missed a good part of the final stretch of last season and his return remains a mystery, although those around him are confident that he can reappear at the beginning of March.
Considered one of the great promises of Spanish padel, Cardona had a brilliant start to 2025 with Leo Augsburger and this year he had opted for an ambitious project with Javi Leal, another of the great hitters on the circuit, with his sights set on achieving important results in Premier Padel.
In a similar situation there is Coqui Nietowho was also unable to be present in the Hexagon Cup with Team Bella and who still cannot compete again alongside Jon Sanz, with whom he was proclaimed champion of the Final Master in 2024. The player from Madrid continues with his recovery process and, although he is already training, he acknowledged on social networks that he still cannot hit the ball with power due to persistent discomfort in his arm.
Given this scenario, Leal and Sanz will form a couple of circumstances in Riyadh and it remains to be seen if they will have to extend this union also in the Gijón event. Everything indicates that both Cardona and Nieto could reappear in the Spanish tournament scheduled for early March in Asturias, a test that this year generates special expectation after the absence, in the last edition, of the main male couples on the circuit.
