The game of legends as the final chord of the European Championship
Saturday, January 31, at At 14:00, a special game of Latvian indoor football legends will take place in the “Rimi Olympic Center”. The event will symbolically mark the end of the European Championship taking place in Riga, informs the Latvian Football Federation (LFF). Entry is free for spectators.
This game will give you the opportunity to see in person a number of former Latvian indoor football luminaries and national team players who once made the history of this sport in Latvia. Such well-known football players as Aigars Bondar, Alexander Dibrivny, Maxim Sen, Vadim Lashenko, Dmitry Zabarovski, Oskar Iksten, Igor Dacko, Alexander Proskurnin, Artyom Kolesnikov, Sergey Nagibin and many others will take part.
In addition to the players on the field, special roles off the field are also planned for other Latvian indoor football personalities, including Artur Šketov, Vitalii Voskānas, Kiazo Leladze and Vladimir Belija.
The European Championship in Riga and the next steps
This match of legends takes place on the day when the last match of the European Championship final tournament will be played in Riga – the quarter-final match between France and Ukraine, which will start at “Arena Riga” at 17:00. The Latvian indoor football team ended its debut at the European Championship with a group tournament, losing to Croatia 1:4 and failing to qualify for the quarterfinals. Despite the withdrawal, the national team showed fighting spirit and gained valuable experience.
The European Futsal Championship in Riga is an important event in the history of Latvian sports, and it strengthens the popularity of futsal in the country. The tournament will take place from January 21 to February 7, and it is the first European indoor football championship that takes place in three countries at the same time: Latvia, Lithuania and Slovenia.
