The small final and the final of the Czech Republic Cup took place yesterday in Ostrava. Here are the summaries and results of these two matches.

Small finale:

In this match for third place, the defending champion of the year 2025 consoles himself by still leaving with a medal from this Final Four. The start of the match is balanced and the two teams go blow for blow. A better address, however, gives a few steps ahead to the teammates of Karoline STRIPLIN (25 points, 9 rebounds). This gap will quickly increase at the start of the second quarter because Chomutov’s defense is well in place and gives quick play (+15 after 13 minutes of play). But Natalia MARTISKOVA (17 points) wakes up his team and at the break everything is still possible for both teams (43-36). Returning from the locker room, the game is pleasant but the rhythm imposed by the duo TEresa KRAVOLA – Eliska HALOVA (14 points each) brings theirs even closer (59-58). But this riot of energy will pay off quickly at the start of the 4th quarter. Eliska BREJCHOVA (16 points) will find easy shots well supported by Valentina KADLECOVA (14 points). Under the leadership of this duo, the gap swells and the last ten minutes are one-way. Romana Ptáčková, coach of Sokol Hradec Králové, remained lucid at the end of the match: “It was about gaining experience, an area where Chomutov excels. We are playing with an extremely young team, capable of great actions, but incapable of maintaining a constant and concentrated level of play for forty minutes. The desire is there, but we make a lot of mistakes. Yesterday again, our leaders were not up to par, which penalized the whole team. Our two leaders are young, but we have to know how to exploit our opponents’ mistakes, and that is not yet the case. »

Finale :

The night must have been short for the local players because their victory was hard and long in the making. The atmosphere is heavy at the start of the match, the public responded to this final. The home team enters its match but the opposing players respond immediately to each choice or adjustment that pays off. No team stands out, the game is pleasant but everything remains to be done at the break (45-46). Returning from the locker room, the locals stammer their basketball and the visitors open up an interesting first gap (49-57). But Squires OLIANA (17 points) shows himself as an offensive leader who reassures and brings his team back. Sara ROKKANEN does not intend to give up and will achieve one of the best offensive performances of his career (26 points). Ten minutes from the end, the 6 points lead for the locals does not ensure a sufficiently large cushion to be calm. The mano a mano continues, the coaches try to cover their tracks and Michael VONDRAWKOV (21 points) takes over offensively from her teammate. This is the moment chosen by the inevitable Iva BELOSEVIC (21 points, 12 rebounds and tournament MVP) to make the difference and take his team to the final coronation. The rebound battle largely won by the local team was a determining factor in this meeting (56 shots to 39), which was confirmed by the KP Brno coach, Marcela KRAMER, at the end of the meeting : “The match was very irregular. I told the players that they had to be more aggressive on the rebound and finish off the opponent’s actions. Unfortunately, we lost ourselves, because in the end the score was 56-39 on the rebound, and that’s what we lacked. But you can’t really prepare for it: you either get there or you don’t. » On the side of his counterpart Veta RASKOVAthe victory speech was full of emotion but lucid: “These are indescribable feelings. The atmosphere was absolutely fantastic today and we probably couldn’t lose in front of so many people. After the first half we were trailing a lot, making unnecessary mistakes, so we decided to focus on defense. The girls really wanted to win and they handled many contentious situations well. The main thing is that everyone wanted to win at home, even the foreign players. The experience of the European Cup has strengthened our self-confidence, which continues to grow. We must not rest on our laurels now. There are teams like Levhartice and Trutnov in the league and we have to stay focused, keep our feet on the ground and keep working hard. »

Having fallen into basketball at the age of 4, I took on the roles of player, referee, coach, and manager. My career has mainly led me to evolve in women’s basketball, but it is the love of this sport as a whole that drives me.
