Darker blue, muted white, bold red and gold. Such colors are used in the Olympic collection for the upcoming Winter Games in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. It is dominated by a loose sweater, and also includes a classic raškovka hat. “In order for the clothing to represent the country well, it is not necessary at all costs to have the classic tricolor on it,” says collection designer Anežka Berecková.

- Why is the collection worn in a retro style?
- What would the designer change about her?
- How does she cope with strong public reactions?
The Olympic collection must combine aesthetics and functionality, it should be original, but at the same time not completely controversial. What was it like balancing all these tendencies for you?
Very complex. It was my first experience with work of such dimensions. I think it would be better to have significantly more time for her so that individual things can be polished.
How much time did you have for the design?
I wouldn’t like to be confused, it was already a year and a half ago. I think around three weeks, maybe a month. But at that time I was also working on other things, so there was simply not enough time.
The development and discussion or approval processes of the Czech Olympic Committee then understandably took a longer time. During development, however, there was no space to change anything from the designer’s side.
