BOCA DEL RÍO, Ver.- Xalapa will host this weekend the CONADE 2026 State Qualifier in the disciplines of judo and chess, with the participation of a delegation of close to 300 people, including athletes and coaches, who will seek their place in the regional phase towards the CONADE 2026 National Olympiad.
In chess, 48 athletes from 18 municipalities will compete, who will compete in the qualifying rounds after the technical meeting scheduled for this Friday at 3:30 p.m. The games will take place on Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 a.m., with an awards ceremony scheduled for Sunday at 7:00 p.m.
The chess delegation has state and national leaders, among them the 2025 National Olympiad medalist, Miriam Pamela Pulido Velasco, as well as Miguel Ángel Carrillo Fonseca, who is preparing for the Pan-American chess tournament to be held in May in El Salvador.
The first and second places by category, test and branch will advance to the regional stage, to be held in Xalapa from March 12 to 15.
In judo, the activity will be concentrated at the Miguel Ángel Ríos Torres University Gymnasium of the Universidad Veracruzana, where this Saturday the fights corresponding to the Under 15, Under 18, Under 21 and Under 24 categories will be held, in both branches.
The judoka delegation is led by Samuel Valdivieso Garduño, gold medalist at the 2025 National Olympics in Tlaxcala, who will compete in the Under 24 category with the aim of confirming his state dominance.
The State Judo will begin this Friday with the official weigh-in at 5:30 p.m. and the previous meeting at 8:30 p.m. The competitions will start on Saturday at 10:00 a.m., and the winners will advance to the National Qualifier, from which the Veracruz team for the CONADE 2026 National Olympiad will emerge.
