Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic plans to return to action Friday night against the Los Angeles Clippers after being sidelined since Dec. 29 with a bone bruise in his left knee, sources told ESPN.
Jokic is also expected to be in the matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder in Denver on Sunday.
The 2.11m star center was injured in the first half of Denver’s loss to the Miami Heat last December. Before his injury, he was fifth in the NBA’s scoring charts with 29.6 points per game. He also has 16 triple-doubles this season, an NBA record.
Jokic also has career-high averages in assists per game (11.0) and three-point percentage (43%).
In the absence of Jokic in recent weeks, the Nuggets have posted a record of 10 wins and 6 losses. These 16 missed games represent the most games he has ever missed in a season.
