RSEQ Football: CFL Recruitment Watch – 6 Players to Watch

Six athletes playing for one of the RSEQ’s six university football programs have received an invitation to the Canadian Football League (CFL) evaluation camp.

The event held in Edmonton from March 27 to 29 brings together the best prospects for the 2026 draft of the circuit.

The Université de Montréal Carabins are the only ones to have more than one footballer guaranteed to be in the camp, since linebacker Charles-Elliot Bouliane, offensive lineman Alassane Diouf and defensive back Louis-Philippe Gauthier will be there.

The other RSEQ representatives who were invited are McGill Redbirds quarterback Éloa Latendresse-Régimbald, Laval University Rouge et Or fullback Émeric Boutin and Concordia Stingers linebacker Loik Gagné.

Among these, Boutin is the only one identified by the CFL Recruiting Office as one of the 20 best prospects for the next auction.

No player from the Vert & Or de l’Université Sherbrooke and the Bishop’s Gaiters – a team which is returning to the Quebec division in 2026 – has received an invitation.

In total, 70 hopefuls received an invitation to this camp. The Ottawa Gee-Gees will have the most representatives with six, including Quebecers Jaxxon Brashear (defensive back) and Marc Djonay Rondeau (linebacker). The first is the son of former National Hockey League player Donald Brashear.

The CFL also revealed the identities of the 76 players who will be at the invitational evaluation camp on March 6 in Waterloo. Footballers who have sufficiently impressed the recruiters of the nine teams on the professional circuit during this evaluation day will receive an invitation to the event taking place a few weeks later in Alberta.
