The cost of a 30-second advertisement for the National Football League (NFL) final Super Bowl exceeded $10 million (approximately KRW 14.3 billion) for the first time in history.
According to Bloomberg, an American business media outlet, on the 30th (Korean time), Mike Marshall, head of global advertising for NBC, which broadcasts the Super Bowl, said, “We sold some of the 30-second advertisements for $10 million.”
The cost of a 30-second advertisement for the first Super Bowl in 1967 was $37,500. $103,500 in 1974, $275,000 in 1981, $525,000 in 1985, $1.15 million in 1995, $2.1 million in 2000, $3.1 million in 2011, $5 million in 2017, $7 million in 2023, It rose sharply to $8 million in 2025.
This year’s Super Bowl will be held at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, USA on the 9th of next month, and the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks will clash. New England is trying to win for the 7th time, and Seattle is trying to win for the 2nd time. It has been 11 years since the two teams met in the Super Bowl. In the 2015 Super Bowl, Tom Brady (retired), considered the best quarterback of all time, led New England to a 28-24 victory.
Meanwhile, last year’s Super Bowl set an all-time record of 127.7 million average viewers on TV and streaming platforms in the United States.
