The last group of the Canturnament crowned Magistri Cumacini who, thanks to the 49-34 victories over Carcano and 75-46 over Casnati, thus qualified as top seed for the direct elimination phase together with Casnati, capable of then beating Terragni 57-49, who finished in fourth place due to the defeat against Carcano 46-37.

Casnati vs Terragni
The match started on an uphill climb for our team, which in the first half seemed a little dull and less focused than usual. From the first minutes the opponents gained confidence, managing to exploit every opportunity and impose their game. We struggled to find the right rhythm and this allowed the other team to lead the score. Despite some good attempts, the first half ended with the opponents leading 31 to 26, leaving some disappointment in the stands. During the interval, however, something changed. Upon returning to the field, our team had a different determination in their eyes, as if they had finally found the right energy. In the second half we saw a completely transformed team: more united, more spirited and with an enormous desire to win. Every basket was a rush of energy, the defense was more attentive and the understanding between the players was evident. Point after point we first managed to recover the deficit and then overtake our opponents, causing the cheers to explode. In the last minutes the tension was very high, but our team didn’t give up even for a second and continued to fight until the end. With great character and a lot of passion, the match ended with a beautiful victory 57 to 49, a comeback that thrilled everyone and demonstrated the desire to never give up.
Casnati vs Masters
The match didn’t go in the best way. In the first half we suffered right from the start, finishing down 41-29 and struggling to find rhythm, especially in attack. In the second half the situation worsened further: a very heavy score of 77-46 for the opponents, with too many defensive lapses and little continuity in the game. A clear defeat that leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

Bitter day in Seveso: Terragni finishes fourth in the group
Despite two hard-fought matches, faced with spirit and commitment, the Terragnini were unable to impose themselves on the teams of the Centro studi Casnati and ISIS Paolo Carcano, finishing the first phase of the Canturnament (held in Seveso) in fourth position in the group. There is undoubtedly some regret for the boys from Olgiate, but also the awareness of having provided two very good performances.
Casnati b.Terragni 57-49 (first match)
The day, for the team led by Enrico Castiglioni and Alessandro Leone, opened with an already very important challenge with the Casnati team. In fact, the match would have decided who would go on to play the final for first or second place in the group. The losers, however, would have already had to abandon their ambitions of qualifying for the “Gold” final phase, reserved for first and second places, and then go on to face the match that would have established the third and fourth placings (valid for two other subsequent “minor” phases of the tournament). The match took place in two halves of play, fifteen minutes each. Temporal scan also maintained in the finals. The challenge began under the banner of balance, which was never really lacking during the thirty minute race. As regards the first part of the match, it is worth underlining the excellent performance of Suley Gatti, who produced a lot of play and several opportunities, even if they did not always materialise. Furthermore, it is worth highlighting the great game played by Margherita Pepe, enhanced by a 3-point shot scored. In general, a very positive first half of the game for the Terragni team (31-26 ahead), guilty only of having suffered several counterattacks and having played a match that was perhaps too clean (the two coaches underlined the possibility of using fouls when necessary, during the technical break). It should be noted, regarding the various positive aspects, the Olgiate team put on the field an excellent level of intensity, with the great merit of having stopped several actions of the very dangerous opponent n.12, already highlighted by coach Castiglioni as the man to counter in the opponent’s attack phase. The second half began immediately with good pressing from Terragni, led by Gatti and the convincing and rocky Mauro Salvatelli. This positive moment, however, then seemed to dissipate following a remarkable 3-point shot from the opposing team, who gained confidence. From that moment on, the Casnati players seemed reinvigorated and the match became an uphill battle for Terragni. From a constant advantage of two points for Terragni’s team, we moved on to a situation in which Casnati always managed to maintain a gap of 4 or 5 points, which then widened towards the end. The main regret for Terragni’s team was probably the drop in intensity and determination that occurred in the last minutes of the match, also due to understandable tiredness following a very intense match. The match ended 57 to 49 in favor of the Casnati team. However, the good performance remains, with good organization (thanks to the hard work of the coaches after school) and technical and physical quality.
Carcano b.Terragni 46-37 (third/fourth place final)
The Terragnini team immediately had to face an important final for third place in the group, which would have decided the future fate of the team in the 2025/26 Canturnament. Terragni, despite physical and mental tiredness, immediately had to try his hand at another non-trivial challenge with the good team of the Paolo Carcano Institute (better known as “Setificio”) of Como. Carcano’s team, from the first moments of the match, demonstrated a superior psycho-physical condition compared to Castiglioni and Leone’s boys, implementing very precise and defined schemes (in particular, the “Pick and roll” offensive strategy, which was immediately very effective and countered with difficulty by the local players). The first half of the game opened with such a strong dominance of the Setificio that it led the Terragni coaches to change four out of five players after only a few minutes (a decision not shared by all the players). At a certain moment, the Terragnina team, nervous and exhausted, found themselves trailing 7 to 18. Particularly noteworthy is the great intensity with which they were experiencing the moments of the match from the bench, dissatisfied with the poor “ball-moving” in the possession phase (the no.8’s statement “Are you moving this ball or do you have glue on your hands?”, addressed to a player in difficulty in our team, was nice). The first half, very difficult and once again characterized by refereeing controversies, however ended with a good reaction from Terragni, who ended the set trailing 23 to 27, shortening the gap. It should be highlighted in the first half the lack of concreteness of Terragni’s team, very foul in the (few) free throws awarded and characterized by little clarity. Likewise, there was no lack of fighting spirit and good ideas from which to start again in the remaining 15 minutes. In the second half, which began with the balance and intensity of both teams, a nervous Alessandro Leone hilariously declared “It’s not always Sunday”, following one of the many missed opportunities by a still recovering Terragni. In the central phase of the second half, there was a notable increase in quality in Setificio’s performance, who played 4 or 5 minutes constantly attacking a struggling Terragni, although finishing with mixed results. Terragni, even though they were 7 points down just before the end, continued to believe in it, putting their heart into every ball, even if the tiredness and discouragement from a complex day were making themselves felt. As for the Carcano team, the technical and physical exuberance of the n.12 should be highlighted, who led the team to a brilliant success. The match ended 46 to 37 in favor of the Como team, also favored by the greater rest time available. For Terragni, a decent performance despite the difficulties, even if the disappointment with the result clearly remains.

Last Group D – Magistri dominant and qualified for Gold
The last Group D opens with Magistri, Setificio, Terragni and Casnati, but from the first matches it is clear that Magistri has an edge. Two clear victories, first against Setificio and then against Casnati, which certify a qualification for the Gold draw obtained above all thanks to excellent tactical preparation, the result of the work of the coach and team managers, capable of building an organised, compact and always concentrated team.
Masters – Setificio 49-34
First half (26-13)
Magistri enters the field with clear ideas and demonstrates it from the first action, immediately finding a triple that gives confidence and rhythm. Setificio tries to react with number 15, but Magistri maintains control thanks to a well-organised attack and careful defence. Savi Giovanni (n.6) is precise from the line, while the team play led by the MVP of the group Antonetti Federico and Beltramini Matteo allows the team to progressively extend the gap. The defensive pressure forces Setificio to commit several fouls and waste free throw opportunities. The first half ends at 26-13, with Magistri dominating the field.
Second half (49-34)
In the second half, Setificio tries to increase the intensity and, thanks to the substitutions, manages to recover a few points. Magistri, however, does not lose her composure, defends the basket in an orderly manner and restarts quickly, also taking advantage of a favorable interference action. The tactical organization, evident throughout the match, allows the team to manage the advantage without risks. In the final minutes, spectacular actions made of well-constructed passes and shots arrive, which definitively close the game at 49-34 and give Magistri a victory considered almost “easy”.
Masters – Casnati 77-46
First half (41-29)
The second match sees a more competitive start: Casnati scores immediately with a double basket, but Magistri responds immediately, once again led by the MVP of the group. The close marking on Casnati’s best players and the precision on free throws allow Magistri to take the lead. Casnati tries to stay in the game with some good offensive actions, but Magistri’s greater organisation, built thanks to the preparation of the coach and the support of the team managers, makes the difference. We go to halftime at 41-29.
Second half (77-46)
In the second half Magistri immediately accelerated, scoring in the first minutes and increasing the gap. The defense was excellent, with Maithreege Sathiv, the protagonist under the basket, even if a particular action led to a special basket for Casnati. From that moment, however, the match takes only one direction: Magistri dominates, finds triples and counterattacks, manages moments of confusion and closes without difficulty. The final result of 77-46 confirms a clear victory and a fully deserved qualification for the Gold table.
