There will be 161 of them defending the colors of France. 161 to try to win medals at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics to offer the Blues their best historical record, established for the moment at 15 (2014 and 2018). This Monday, the CNOSF revealed the last qualifiers for the competition which will begin on February 6 in Italy, announcing in particular the absence of Alexis Pinturault.
The only team sport, ice hockey logically brings together the most French athletes. With 25 men and 23 women, the maximum authorized, the two French teams therefore take 48 hockey players.
Just behind, we find freestyle skiing, cross-country skiing and alpine skiing. The first discipline brings together three different events, namely mogul skiing, ski cross and freeskiing. Perrine Laffont will be the leader of this team of 18 athletes. In cross-country skiing and alpine skiing, there will be 16, including Lucas Chanavat, Jules Chappaz, Clément Noël, Romane Miradoli, Nils Allègre, Paco Rassat and Alban Elezi Cannaferina as the last entrant.
France will also be massively represented in biathlon, where it will compete for numerous medals. Lou Jeanmonnot, Justine Braisaz-Bouchet, Julia Simon, Éric Perrot and Émilien Jacquelin all aim to bring home several charms, whether during individual or collective events.
Eleven other disciplines could offer podiums to the French delegation. In figure skating, nine representatives will compete, including the European champion duo Guillaume Cizeron-Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Kevin Aymoz. There will be 8 in snowboard cross and bobsleigh, 7 in speed skating and short track, 5 in ski jumping. Finally, there will also be Tricolores in Nordic combined, skeleton, ski mountaineering and freestyle snowboarding. France, however, will be absent in luge and curling.
